I have started a new blog about international food, Tasting the World in Washington.
After I returned to the U.S. from Russia, I struggled to figure out how to continue this blog. While I wanted to continue to explore Russian food, I felt it would be difficult to commit to writing a blog about food from a country I no longer lived in. I had moved to a new city -- the Washington DC area -- and didn't know my way around yet, so as much as I wanted to write, I wasn't sure that I was ready to do so.
A year later, a trip to several international grocery stores has convinced me that this will not be as impossible as I had feared. There are plenty of opportunities to explore and write about international food in the DC area, and I am excited to give this a try. I plan to expand my interest from Russian food to a broader range of international food, but of course, I will always have an affection for Eastern European, Russian, and Central Asian food. I hope you will become a reader of my new blog.
